North Star appoints Ed Dove as Head of Media

Ed Dove has been appointed as Head of Media for North Star Network, a France-based sports media group operating online titles across 30 countries.
Dove, previously Head of Content for GOAL across Africa, takes up the position based in North Star’s Paris office, and will also oversee the company’s operation in Sao Paulo. His brief is to implement the media strategy, recruit editorial talent and to boost the reach of content produced by the network’s in-house team.
“Ed brings a deep knowledge of online media and seniority to this new role,” said North Star Network co-CEO Julien Josset. “He will structure and lead our media department and help us to achieve this strategic shift”.
“Appointing Ed, a veteran of the media industry, is an important milestone to transform our operations, historically based on an affiliate-marketing focus, into a media group.”
The 34-year-old began his career with GOAL in 2012, playing an influential role in the company’s expansion across Africa, while also holding positions with Reuters, ESPN and Bleacher Report among others.
A recognised authority on football and African sport, Dove has also worked previously in the French market as an on-screen pundit and analyst with France 24.
“It’s a privilege to be entrusted with the Head of Media position at North Star, and I'm excited by the prospect of leading this global network of journalists into the future,” said Dove. “It was always going to take something special for me to leave GOAL, my home for a decade, but this is a terrific next challenge for me as I look to develop our team across the world.
“I intend to forge and inspire a media division that is innovative, authoritative and ambitious, with the aim of establishing a loyal, engaged and consistent reader-base across our global network of online destinations.”
Some of the titles Dove will be overseeing include SuperEsportes, TopMercato, Vringe, FootballWhispers and AfrikFoot.
